Horace, the quarterly journal of the Coalition of Essential Schools, demonstrates the strength and expertise of the CES network, explores challenges that Essential schools face, and serves as evidence of the effectiveness of the CES movement to transform the lives of young people and adults, schools, communities, school systems, and the larger environment in which schools operate.
Now available online!Horace 24.3, "Education and Democracy." This issue looks at civic engagement to understand the ways that educators, students, and communities that support schools involve themselves in politics and policy creation to create and sustain personalized, equitable, and academically challenging schools for all students. And Horace asks, what role do Essential schools play in developing students who will participate in and shape our democracy through the 21st century?
