Meeting the Long-Term Challenges of School Change |

| "There's not enough time for this stuff!" "They're not walking the talk!" "They're acting like a cult!" Statements like these, often heard in the throes of organizational change, are symptoms of innate systemic challenges. When educators and other members of the school community come together for the sake of improvement, these hidden challenges often seem like external enemies. In fact, they are natural limits that can be anticipated and prepared for in advance, especially in professional communities like schools. In this session, drawing upon the "Fifth Discipline" fieldbooks, "The Dance of Change" and "Schools That Learn", participants will develop strategic awareness of the barriers and blocks they can expect to meet and how to build their capacity to deal with these barriers and blocks effectively. |
