Using Data-Inquiry to Assist in Raising Student Achievement

Workshop   +   Cycle of Inquiry   +   Everyone
Too often in education, decisions made are based solely on anecdotal evidence, what we "think" might be happening, or on the basis of one standardized test. The data-inquiry process helps schools to deeply investigate the causes of the challenges they face and the most appropriate courses of action to meet these challenges. In this session, participants will learn how the Boston Arts Academy used the data-inquiry process to face a challenge that will resonate for all schools: Why do we have a large number of students who are not achieving? Participants will follow the school's faculty as they learn to use data to investigate the answer to this question, to find the root causes, and to develop action plans to address it.
