Modeling Academic Integrity

Roundtable   +   Assessment   +   Everyone
Like adults, students are faced with increasing pressure to succeed. As the stakes are raised--schools insisting on the development of critical thinking, portfolio exhibitions, Socratic Seminars, high-stakes proficiency tests--students are tempted to take short cuts to academic success. While "cheating" is certainly not a new phenomenon, there are more resources for students to cultivate. With the development of a sound Academic Integrity policy and consistent teacher modeling, the school community can affect student attitudes. Facilitators will share their experiences of modeling academic integrity in their school community by using a tuning protocol and encouraging participant involvement.
