Taming the Whirlwind: How to Keep Conversations Alive at the Breaking Points

Roundtable   +   Cycle of Inquiry   +   Everyone
What do we do when the conversation ceases in our schools, when unacknowledged conflict and struggle deflect the change process, sap the enthusiasm of our community, and cause many to abandon efforts at change? How do we find a way back to our senses, to retrieving our voices and renewing our resolve when we come to these difficult crossroads in the journey toward school change? A powerful model can give us hope for understanding the change process and can help us navigate the difficult turns in human communication. Let's discuss a critical model that can help us anticipate conflict, help us reframe problems, and help us discern strategies for working through conflicts that arise between diverse visions, values and interests. In this roundtable, we will share the sometimes rocky journey toward renewed schools of caring and learning.
