Permission to Try Something Different - Now What? Designing Schools to Support Essential Teaching and Learning |
| Workshop + School Design + High School |
| A variety of federal, state, and local policy initiatives are giving educators the opportunity to think about what schools should really be like if they are to foster learning for all students. This workshop will challenge participants to explore what schools would look like if their structures, procedures, and practices all worked together to support and foster student learning. Following a structured inquiry process, participants will: (1) identify key principles and guiding philosophies around which schools should be organized, and (2) construct design parameters for translating these principles into practice. The resulting design parameters will provide a framework for examining current structures and practice as well as a blueprint for designing new structures and practices. |
