High School Reform Through Cycles of Inquiry: Focused Work in Literacy and Complex Implementation Systems

Workshop   +   Cycle of Inquiry   +   High School
Why standards? Why data? Why is the focus literacy? Come and hear how one high school staff used systems thinking and cycles of inquiry to change a traditional learning and teaching environment into a dynamic enterprise that supports student and adult learning. This workshop will address how high school teachers in all content areas are learning to target low literacy performance and teach students strategies in reading and writing. Participants will leave with a model of how theoretical constructs such as literacy content standards and performance standards can be practically used to guide the creation of aligned assessments, curriculum and instruction.
