A School of Our Own: Bringing Together the Ideal and the Real in a New School

Workshop   +   School Design   +   High School
Poland Regional High School is the first new high school to open in Maine in over 20 years, bringing together students from 12 different schools. Using a tuning protocol format, a panel of staff, students and parents will share the story of creating a school based on CES principles within a diverse, rural community. We will also share the challenges of putting principles into practice with students and parents whose experience of "school" has been very different. After the panel, we'll break into groups to discuss issues and questions identified by participants, and generate lessons and ideas that will benefit PRHS and other schools.
Presenters: Debra Smith, Derek Pierce, Chris Brackett, John D'Anieri
Date: Friday 8:00am -  10:00am   Room: Conv Ctr 550A   Event #144
