Assessment, Standards and Essential Learnings: Teasing Out What's Important
|
| Workshop + Assessment + Everyone |
| Maine State standards are intended to support all Maine students to use their minds well; however, there are far too many, and the standards are not of equal value. Teachers are faced with the dilemma of designing curriculum and assessment to challenge all students while aligning this work with the standards. The ELM project has designed a Web site, tools and professional development activities to help teachers focus on what's really important for students to know and be able to do.
In this workshop, participants will become familiar with the Electronic Learning Marketplace's Web site, tools and products. We will also engage in a peer review of a draft assessment and learning activity, and discuss the inherent tension between state standards and essential learnings.
