Getting R.E.A.L. in High School and Middle School: Rigorous Engagement of Adolescent Literacy
Facilitator(s): Adam Kinory

Workshop   +   Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction   +   High School
This workshop introduces participants to a new paradigm toward engaged literacy--R.E.A.L. literacy. This method develops the internal "reading voice" of each student to provoke a deeper textual engagement, one which is authentic to the individual. The organic textual responses elicited from the students provide data for planning individualized instruction. Workshop participants will be introduced to the methods of R.E.A.L., engage in case studies, and participate in the process of responding to a text utilizing this novel approach. Time will be allocated to allow participants to brainstorm methods for tailoring this approach to their own professional setting.
Date/Time: Saturday, 10:30am - 12:30pm   Room: CC 620   Session #9
