Meaning What We Say: Personalizing the Public High School
Facilitator(s): Erin Connor, Elke Christoffersen, John D'Anieri

Workshop   +   School Design: structures   +   High School
Can schools create fully personalized, heterogenously-grouped, state standards-based curricula? Workshop participants will develop specifics to greatly increase personalization in a wide variety of educational contexts. Using Poland Regional High School's Jr./Sr. Independent Team as a model, participants will (1) assess the relative degree of personalization in their own school settings; (2) analyze the school culture and structures for opportunities to increase personalization; (3) create a process to assess student needs and interests and integrate those aspects with standards; and (4) create a context-specific design to implement fully personalized education. Participants will work on one or more of the above elements based on interest and school context.
Date/Time: Friday, 10:30am - 12:30pm   Room: CC 608   Session #63
