Teachers Building Capacity to Use Authentic Assessments
Facilitator(s): Cheryl Jones Walker, Jennie Hallisey, Dan French, Jay Feldman, Rosann Tung

Workshop   +   Classroom Practice: assessment   +   Everyone
Within a network of K-12 Coalition and like-minded schools, teachers have collaborated on developing a Web-based tool to share competencies and assessments in math and literacy. This session shares examples of and lessons learned from the multiple performance-based assessments that each school uses for graduation and promotion, unveils an innovative way for teachers across the network to share assessments and examples of student work, and stimulates discussion on how to organize teachers to advocate for authentic alternatives to standardized tests. We seek assessments which will really tell us what our children know and can do.
Date/Time: Friday, 4:00pm - 6:00pm   Room: CC 603   Session #60
