Creating an Alliance: Joining Administration, Faculty, Staff, and Community to Promote Change
Facilitator(s): Mary Lou Arguelles-Anderson, Raylah Etlantus

Roundtable   +   Leadership: change process   +   Everyone
Alliances exist by necessity; it is human nature for human beings to bond with each other in definable relationships. Alliances, by their very nature, frequently result in a bipartite structure consisting of a dominant member (the recognized authority) and a subordinate member. Our discussion will focus on the bipartite structure within each element of an alliance, aiming to find ways to transform the "us against them" mentality. School administrators and external service providers must develop and maintain alliances that will change the school culture to implement reform efforts. We will examine the characteristics of successful alliances and discuss how to achieve our common vision.
