Walking the Tightrope: Finding the Balance between Democratic Process and Essential Principles
Facilitator(s): Carrie Brennan, Brett Goble, Eve Rifkin

Roundtable   +   Community Connections: parent involvement   +   Everyone
This roundtable will provide a forum for participants to discuss some of the issues involved in opening a new school. How do we adhere to our vision based on the CES Common Principles while simultaneously inviting community input? Is it possible to foster a shared vision when presenting non-negotiable principles? Is there a danger of jeopardizing these principles as we engage in democratic practices? Using facilitators' plans for opening their new school and a short text excerpt to generate discussion, participants will share ideas and insights regarding the challenges of creating a school based on shared vision while not compromising on fundamental principles.
Date/Time: Saturday, 2:45pm - 3:45pm   Room: CC 304   Session #393
