Leadership Spectrum: Maintaining High Expectations in a Culture of Change
Facilitator(s): Marilyn Durham

Roundtable   +   Leadership: change process   +   High School
How does a multiple high school district address the demands for higher standards while deeping Essential School work and setting expectations for students to use their minds well? This roundtable experience will focus on the notion that leadership at all levels is essential to ensure that school restructuring is systemic and sustained. Participants will be engaged in dialogue and discussion about using CES Common Principles to create a differentiated diploma structure, search for often-missed opportunities in a community, and discuss how to provide incentives and rewards for students who accept responsibility for their own learning. Each participant will leave with an action plan to broaden community participation and learning opportunities for students to learn to use their minds well.
