Teaching and Learning Together: Procedures for Including Special Education Students in Regular Education Settings
Facilitator(s): David Sechler

Workshop   +   Leadership: change process   +   Everyone
Parents, students and administrators often have radically different opinions about what can and cannot be done with inclusion. Regular education and special education teachers bring to the table different, but equally vital, skills and information. When they come together to discuss how to best serve students, special education teachers can gain the regular education teacher's depth of content knowledge, while regular ed teachers can gain the special ed teacher's breadth of instructional strategies; both become more effective generalists. In this workshop, you will find out how a middle school principal and his staff created a workable set of procedures for providing special education services in regular education settings. Participants are invited to join "Inclusion," an electronic discussion for use after the Fall Forum.
