| Roundtable + Classroom Practice: curriculum & instruction + High School |
| "We the People...in order to form a more perfect union..." As many countries of the world are moving toward more democratic societies, the U.S. is held up as the example of how democracy in action truly looks. Many young people in American high schools take for granted what
it means to be civically active in a democracy. Civics or American Government is just another class to endure for a grade. Through this roundtable discussion, which will focus on the need for more civic education and democratic practices in schools, meaningful activities, and lesson plans designed collaboratively by American and Polish teachers, we will bring to life a clearer understanding of the principles of democracy and the tenth Common Principle for building an Essential school. |
