Structuring for Personalization: How to Create a Personalized Learning Environment
Facilitator(s): Brett Lane, Ted Hamann

Workshop   +   School Design: structures   +   High School
Personalized learning is a goal that is critical to the learning experience of students. However, the task of creating a personalized learning experience is difficult and time-consuming. This session will describe the experience of 11 Maine high schools working to create a personalized learning environment. Specifically, the session will outline four interrelated reform practices (personal learning plans and student-led conferences; student portfolios and senior exhibitions; common course assessments; advisory groups and team teaching) that the Maine schools are using to support personalization. Participants will engage in a discussion about how these practices relate, how they are implemented, and what they mean for personalization in their own schools.
Date/Time: Saturday, 10:30am - 12:30pm   Room: CC 607   Session #181
