Out of Your Seat and on Your Feet: A Performance-Based Literacy Curriculum

Participants will learn how to teach using a performance-based literacy approach developed by the ArtsLiteracy Project in the Education Department at Brown University. In this session, participants will join in performance activities, view a video presentation of students performing in schools, and learn how a curriculum model called "The Performance Cycle" can be a tool for designing curriculum units. All participants will leave the session with a handbook that incorporates sample curricula, performance activities that can be used with any text, and a list of resources.
