Hornet Prime Time: An Advisory in the Making
Facilitator(s): Laurie Garrity

Roundtable   +   School Design: structures   +   High School
It has been said that developing an advisory program in a traditional high school is one of the hardest changes to make in education. This roundtable features a school that has recently tackled this challenge and succeeded. Leavitt Area High School began an advisory program called Hornet Prime Time (HPT) two years ago. We will discuss the story of this work, the outcomes we hoped for, the challenges we encountered and the solutions we found. Participants will hear from staff and students on the benefits of this program. There will be useful handouts relative to logistics and ample time for questions. We will also cover how we use HPT to facilitate personal learning plans and student-led conferences. A "must see" for anyone who is thinking of starting or revamping an advisory.
