Teachers Leading the Way: Creating Collaborative School Cultures through New Teacher Support
Facilitator(s): Thomas Trocco, Peter Mason, Judi Fenton, Julian Cohen, Lena Cohen

Workshop   +   Leadership: change process   +   Everyone
How does an urban school retain teachers? By creating a welcoming, risk-taking learning community where they can find their place. Participants in this workshop will join in a series of activities and discussions designed to give them insight into what the New Educator Support Team accomplished over a two-year period in New York City. The highlight of this work was the Coach Teacher Institute, which provided education in facilitation for selected teachers at N.E.S.T. schools. Participants will work collaboratively to discuss and investigate issues of teacher retention in their own schools. The expected outcome is an action plan for teacher support based on the model of the CTI.
