You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks: Veteran Teachers Help Bring about School Change
Facilitator(s): Mary Nasse, Lloyd Hunt

Workshop   +   Leadership: change process   +   Everyone
Older, more experienced veteran teachers are often snubbed when it comes to school change. They ask too many questions, mumble about "being through this before," and are perceived as being so passive or resistant that "change agents" get frustrated. In this introspective yet participatory workshop, participants will explore their own experiences, their beliefs about older teachers, and discuss models of adult learning and teacher supervision to clarify how older teachers can and must be an integral part of any school change. A "personalized school" applies as much to staff members as it does to students.
